What happens when planning your new brows?

During a nano brows consultation, I assess your natural brows, skin, goals, and suitability, then discuss shape, color, technique, expected healing, and aftercare. We can look at reference images and talk through your concerns before you decide whether to proceed. The appointment should leave you informed, not pressured.

What will we discuss first?

I start by listening. I want to understand what you would like your brows to do for you, whether that means filling sparse areas, creating more visible definition, balancing asymmetry, or reducing the time you spend applying makeup. I also ask what you have previously had done, including any permanent makeup or microblading.

Your preferences matter, but so does my professional assessment. I look at your natural brow hair, facial proportions, existing shape, skin condition, and the way your brows move when you speak. The aim is to plan a result that works with your features rather than imposing a shape that looks separate from you.

Bring questions and, if helpful, a few examples of brows you like. Reference photos can help us discuss softness, fullness, arch position, and overall style. They are not a promise that the same result can be reproduced, because every face, skin type, and starting point is different.

How do we decide whether this technique suits you?

I assess whether nano brows are appropriate for your skin and your expectations. This includes discussing how your skin behaves, any existing pigment, your natural brow density, and whether you are hoping for a very subtle enhancement or a more defined appearance.

Nano brows use a digital permanent makeup machine with an ultra-fine single needle to create precise, hair-like strokes. Compared with microblading, the method creates less skin trauma, uses a shallower implantation depth, and can offer more consistent pigment retention on oily skin. That does not mean the outcome is identical for every client. Skin type, lifestyle, pigment choice, and technique all affect how the brows heal and soften.

I will also explain when another option may be more suitable. Keep, but note it is supported. No change needed if retained. The right choice depends on your skin, existing brow work, desired finish, and how you want the result to look as it matures. You can read more in my guide to skin suitability and candidacy for nano brows.

How are shape and color planned?

Shape is one of the most important parts of the consultation. I consider your natural brow position, the direction of your existing hair, the balance between both sides, and how the proposed shape relates to your eyes and face. Brows are rarely perfectly symmetrical, so I focus on balance and suitability rather than forcing perfect symmetry.

We discuss the level of fullness and definition you feel comfortable wearing. I do not expect you to approve a shape without understanding it. Before treatment, I explain the design and make sure you are comfortable with the plan.

Color is also individualized. I consider your natural brow hair, complexion, undertone, and the way pigment is expected to soften during healing. Fresh pigment can look stronger at first, so I explain the difference between the immediate appearance and the healed result. My aim is a color that supports your features, not one that competes with them.

What should I expect on treatment day?

Remove this sentence and the following one about combining consultation with treatment, since CLIENT FACTS do not say the consultation can be combined with treatment. We still take time to confirm the design, color, and any relevant health or skin information. If something needs more discussion, it is reasonable to pause and decide later.

Numbing is used to improve comfort. I explain what you may feel and monitor how you are doing throughout the appointment. The digital machine places pigment into the skin in fine strokes, and I do not rush the design or the application.

You should expect your brows to look more noticeable immediately after treatment. Mild redness or sensitivity can occur, and the color can appear stronger before it settles. I explain the aftercare you need to follow and what changes are normal as the brows heal. For a realistic view of immediate and later results, see my guide to what nano brows look like after treatment and during healing.

What questions should I ask before booking?

A good consultation is also your opportunity to assess the practitioner. I recommend asking to see healed work, not only freshly completed brows. Fresh results can look sharper and darker than the final healed appearance, so healed examples help you judge whether the artist's style suits you.

You can also ask:

  • Which technique are you recommending, and why?
  • How will my skin type affect the healed result?
  • What should I expect during healing?
  • When might a maintenance appointment be appropriate?
  • What aftercare will I need to follow?
  • What happens if I decide not to proceed today?

I am the owner of Rebel Aesthetic, AAM certified, a platinum level AAM trainer and instructor, New Jersey certified, and insured. My background also includes an associate degree in education and a bachelor's degree in psychology. I share this so you know the training and experience behind my consultation, not to suggest that credentials replace a careful conversation and suitable expectations.

Nano brows gradually soften and fade, with longevity varying according to skin, lifestyle, pigment, and aftercare. I explain the maintenance considerations during consultation, including what you may realistically expect over time in my nano brows longevity guide.

Frequently asked questions

Should I bring makeup or brow products to the consultation?

You do not need to bring a full makeup bag, but bringing a product you regularly use can help me understand your preferred color and definition. If you have a brow pencil or powder you like, I can use that conversation to compare your everyday look with the result you are considering.

Can I change my mind after the brow shape is drawn?

Yes. The design discussion is there so we can review the proposed shape before any pigment is implanted. Tell me what feels unfamiliar, too bold, too straight, or otherwise unsuitable. We can discuss adjustments, or you can choose not to proceed if the plan does not feel right.

Is a consultation useful if I already have old brow pigment?

Yes. Existing pigment can affect technique, color selection, and whether a new treatment is advisable. I need to assess how much pigment remains, its current tone, and how it sits in the skin. In some cases, the appropriate plan is different from treating previously untouched brows.

How should I prepare for the consultation?

Arrive ready to discuss your goals, previous brow procedures, relevant skin concerns, and any questions about healing or aftercare. Avoid editing your expectations around a filtered image. Honest information about your brows and history gives me a better basis for a safe, realistic recommendation.

Will the consultation include a final price?

Pricing is shown on the Rebel Aesthetic website. At the consultation, we focus on your suitability, the recommended approach, the design, and your expectations, so you can decide with the full picture before deciding whether to proceed.
